O HAY GUIS

It's Dom, and I've been kinda MIA for the past couple of weeks, so let's explain where I have been.

I had AX during the first week of July, which was good! Not as good as last years, but I wasn't allowed to do the time schedules so not my problem. I also cosplayed Abebe from Gyaruru for fun, don't make fun of me!! lol.

After that I have been doing nonstop Jonas Brothers-related things... how unexpected? lol.

A Small Rant.

Hello everyone! It's Phil / Nine here. First posts are always fun.

Recently a small video I put together for my MySpace profile (cough cough add me ;D), which showcased clips of ParaPara videos I did with Vicky / Coach Vee, was targeted for removal by AVEX on the grounds of "copyright violation." I received a nice little email from MySpace notifying me of this. This isn't the first time I've experienced this; about a year ago two ParaPara videos of mine where removed from YouTube for the same reason.

Okay - I completely understand the need of enforcing their right to protect their licenced intellectual property, and this move doesn't come as a surprise to me, but is the problem of Eurobeat piracy going to be solved by targeting insignificant violations? Without going into explicit detail, AVEX has been known to focus their energy on specific targets and even the people who they licence from. There are stories out there about fights between AVEX and Eurobeat fans, as well as a 'clash of opinion' between them and artists and labels about copyright issues on the net.

I can understand their pleas to websites like YouTube and MySpace - they can practically make these companies bend over backwards with a pre-written cease and desist notice. Websites such as these and fileshare websites like megaupload and rapidshare have policies in place to fight against piracy, but why is that they seemingly turn a blind eye on other websites that actively promote illegal downloads and only target places that provide easy routes? Is it because it's more difficult for them to get things done? A company such as AVEX shouldn't forfeit their rights just because it will take more than a simple request for the activity to stop.

Of course, everyone knows by now that if you upload a video with a licensed AVEX track on YouTube, regardless of length or quality, it won't be there for long... but month after month you can just waltz over to IDForums and download the newest releases. My concern is that with AVEX's way of dealing with this issue, they're making it out that full blown piracy is a-ok but insignificant violations isn't.

Is it really acceptable for me to download a 320kbps rip of a Super Eurobeat album from IDForums but it's not okay for me to have a 45 second clip of "I Wanna Be Fat" in a fan-made parapara video on my MySpace profile?

My MySpace page has views from Eurobeat artists, labels, producers, fans, and would-be fans. I considered the 45 seconds of I Wanna Be Fat, 30 seconds of Feel My Heart and 35 seconds of Raparapadance in that video free promotion. Obviously, AVEX doesn't see it that way and I guess samples of music is more of a threat than the availability of high quality albums rips.

It still amazes me to this day that people who actively promote the piracy of this music hardly get any notice but those who throw money at the genre month after month and preach about supporting it get slapped in the face. AVEX, if you're reading... continue fighting; but rethink the game plan.

For those unfamiliar with this system, the way you use it is to download the zip and launch the file in Windows Media Player. Following the old @music system, you have to pay for the license while registering for the license.

To Art Matsuno, regarding your plans with SEB:

Dear Art Matsuno/Erica Tsunoda who will probably translate this for him,

Since becoming the new SEB director, there have been so many changes hitting SEB that the fans are all becoming confused.

First, you claimed that SEB 186 will include the 13 song change (which was proven to be untrue, you guys moved it to 187) and that 187~189 will include ParaPara DVDs. From what I see with the price change (2,300yen) and the 13 song change, I don't see where the ParaPara DVDs will be included in the future. There are also rumors that either the 2nd disc has been completely taken out or that remixes will continue again... What is right? What are you guys doing to SEB?

You guys need to get a definite plan for SEB and stop experimenting after you promise something, and then change it RIGHT BEFORE the release. I think the fans are pretty sick of all of this confusion and indecisiveness...

The Eurobeat Rumour Mill

Okay boys and girls so rumours I've been hearing about from a few different places is that Dima Music may be the next label to join the SEB series in the coming future.
Now would that really surprise anyone? So many changes are happening if this does happen no one would (or should) really be surprised. Now if out of nowhere Avex decides to give a contract to Blast! and Plum for the SEB main series that would be a surprise.
Also there is another rumour going on that Maurizio De Jorio (the powerhouse behind D.Essex/NIKO/the real Marko Polo) is still in an exclusive contract with Delta until 2012. Well I can say without a doubt that this is 1000% false. Delta records doesn't have Maurizio at all. I'm sure Newfield wishes he had such a talented vocalist under his belt just like I am sure he wishes he was the one who wrote the real Delta hits like "Yesterday", "Night Of Fire" and "Shibuya Girl".

Well 186 is coming soon so everyone should at least listen to sample and consider BUYING it. Especially since it seems to be the SEB of change.

Dear Avex,

It has come to my attention that you perceive me to be one a pirater of music, of course I am speaking in regard of the incident at Bahamut Forever back in 2006. I would just like to make it public that I was not there pirating music or download it either, it was forum that had a section about eurobeat and all I did was talk about upcoming releases. I buy all the releases I listen to and do not wish to be categorized with music pirates or anything of the sort. My only goal is to help promote eurobeat and other dance music. Statement to avex

Dear avex trax (Eurobeat and Hyper Techno divisions, probably towards Erica Tsunoda, as she is the International Liason),

We have had our spats in the past and now in the present. I want to make peace with you guys, and I don't want any more tension involved around me, my Disco NRG circle members, my Super Euro Power Hour crew, and the rest of the fans overseas.

I have done many things to make you guys upset with me, and I understand this. But something else you need to understand are the next following points I want to make:
- If you don't want underaged people going to the ParaPara events, then stop marketing ParaPara to junior high/high school students!!
- I accept responsibility about going to velfarre underage, but what about everyone else who goes? Just because some people are in ParaPara dvds makes them so much better than me to get in while they're the same age as me?
- I do not appreciate all of the hate I get from you guys, as I purchase every release monthly and when they come out. There are so many people you can go after than me, because the purpose of my ParaPara re-films it to promote and help people learn how to buy the products! What about all of the forums and communities who promote piracy? I don't advocate it at all and my avex Eurobeat collection of almost 200 CDs should be proof of it.
- Yes I re-film ParaPara routines. But I believe you think my intentions are to make you guys less money when the routines come out on DVD. This is not the case at all. In fact, most people still would prefer to purchase DVDs then to watch my re-films, or any other ones.
- I am friends with some of the dancers on your DVDs. Sometimes they're scared to talk to me because you have intimidated them about not talking to me. I don't approve of this, and let them be friends with who they want!
- You are hiring some horrible dancers, especially on the latest Gazen ParaPara release from January. Please go look for better ones.

I am an adult now. I have learned from my mistakes. I look back often and see that some of the things I did in my past were wrong, and I learn from it.

Please accept this public apology from my actions that have occurred past and present, and look forward to a brighter future.

Am I missing something?

The D1 Grand Prix 2008 DVD is pretty bad, I mean after the dancers do the routine once through (very poorly for most of them) they then proceed to fuck around and shit... I mean people good money for this CD+DVD set and the DVD side definitely does not earn it's keep at all. You can barely make out what the dancers are doing. Does the japanese audience really enjoy watching people they will never meet having fun? Seems kind of dumb... but that's just me. At least the CD wasn't repeat CD like previous ones... but it's still being mixed by DJ Gun who I absolutely loathe. It could be worse... Avex could have lost their mind and hired Quiqman to make it... talk about a crappy mixer.... eesshh but that's a story for another time...
